- Pranburi 'Pro' Ride - Cost 1,800 Thb/person
We have just added this ride to our portfolio (December 2007) to offer the experienced riders a 'real' challenge. This ride is tough!! Some of the route was recently the course for a professional bike race and it is 90% rugged terrain, single track, drop offs, and ‘bomb holes’.
We start at a chinese temple, high above Pak Nam Pran, and cycle through hills and pineapple fields, descending steeply into a quarry area, and then onto the single track in Old Pranburi.
If it has been raining recently you will cycle through streams and lakes, (sometimes over the cranks) so bring a change of clothes and shoes. What more can I say… it is what real mountain biking is all about. Just look at the photos below.
Please note, vehicle support is very limited on this ride because of the terrain.
- Ride Information
Ride start time- You will be collected from your hotel at 8:00am to 8:20am. Please wait in reception. Return to your hotel will be around 14:00pm
Ride GRADE GUIDE- Testing (Click here for more information)
Distance- 28km (17.5 miles)
Riding Time- Approximately 3 hours 'in the saddle'. Total trip time 6 hours
Cycling conditions- The majority of the cycling is along dirt and 'single' track. There are a few hill climbs, but nothing too steep. However, the ground under the wheels is very 'rough' so we recommend that only very experienced cyclists tackle this ride There are a couple of very technical 'drop offs' and 'rises', and also riding in water (if it has been raining).
Support vehicle- Because of the terrain, our support vehicle has very limited access to this ride, with fruit and water and only available half way around the first loop. (Although your guide carries a first aid kit and you will have fresh, cold water on your bike).
Other information- Although we start early in the morning, it can get very hot, and we suggest you wear sun lotion. Also, bring a camera for the beautiful rural views!
